In the illustration, her feeling of disconnect with the world is apparent as she stares out at something us as the viewers cannot see.

I chose to design the cover for Crime and Punishment in Russian Constructivism style not because both the book and the style are Russian, but because the stark contrast created through limited color palettes and sharp angles reflects the conflicting worldviews of Raskolnikov.

For Madame Bovary, I chose to design in the German Expressionism. The moody tone and skewed perspectives of the German Expressionism style match the unstable and disconnected life of Madame Bovary.
